Lake Naivasha lake level has risen so much that there are now lovely ponds in front of the house, this side of the papyrus. The bird life has increased and guests have great pleasure in watching the various water birds catching small fish and frogs. The clear water has created ‘swimming pools’ for the hippo, the guests have also been enjoying these closer hippo sightings.

June has been a very busy month at Loldia House with guests from all walks of life arriving from near and far. They continue to go to Lake Nakuru via Lake Elementia where there are many more Flamingo. At Lake Nakuru National Park our guests have been enjoying wonderful sightings of Black and White Rhino, Rothchild Giraffes, Lion and some have been lucky enought to see Leopard. The bird life remains phenomenal.
Night Drives on the ranch are very popular with our guests. There have been several sightings of a Leopard. We believe the Leopard has made the area round Loldia House his territory. Hyena, Bat Eared Foxes, Spring Hares, Nocturnal birds and Bush Babies have all made an appearance on our night game drives around the ranch.
Phase one of the Lolda refurbishment has now been completed. Our guests and visiting agents are loving the new look Loldia, it looks very refreshing. The new beds have proved a great success!! Phase two of the upgrade work is now underwat with the consrtuction of the new swimming pool.

Guests are going out on boat trips from the House and enjoying all that Lake Naivasha has to offer. Back on the ranch we have had yet more rain which is keeping everything looking lovely and green and the gardens in full bloom.

We also received the news this month that the commissioning took place of the Eburu Forest Perimeter fence. Over the last five years Rhino Ark has initiated a Eburu Conservation Project which has included the installing of a 43km perimeter fence around the forest. Distinguished guests gathered to hear about the important conservation work being done by Rhino Ark and their partners and Hon Keriako Tobiko, CBS SC Cabinet Secretary for the Environment and Forestry then commissioned the Mau Eburu Electric fence. This fence will play an important role in preserving the Mau Eburu forest, which is a vital forest ecosystem to Kenya’s water sheds and biodiversity. As the Eburu forest borders Loldia Ranch we are also looking at ways to support the conservation work being done here and have begun to take guests into the forest to explore and help preserve this incredible precious forest ecosystem.
