Important changes to Masai Mara Park fees

Kenya

The Masai Mara

Dear valued client and Travel Partner,

This is to bring to your attention some recent changes in rules governing Park Fees in the Masai Mara National Reserve, as they apply to clients staying at our properties within the Reserve.  Those properties are Governors’ Camp, Little Governors’ Camp, Governors’ Il Moran Camp and Governors’ Private Camp and the rule changes, or clarifications issued by Narok County Government, are as follows:

  • Every client must have a valid park ticket for every night that he or she stays in any of our camps.
  • Clients departing by air must be at the airstrip by 10:00hrs, otherwise a further park fee will be charged.  Please note that Mara Conservancy is indicating that it will enforce this rule for clients staying at Little Governors’ Camp, whilst the Narok County Government is currently not enforcing the rule for clients staying at Governors’ Camp, Governors’ Il Moran Camp and Governors’ Private Camp.

We are engaging with Narok County Government and our Industry Representative Bodies to try to get clarity on point 2 above, but whilst we do, please note that at very short notice clients may be asked to pay an extra park fee if they depart after 10:00hrs.

We are also engaging with Narok County Government and our Industry Representative Bodies to get clarity on 2024 Park Fees.  It has been announced verbally (but not in writing), that Park Fees will increase to US$100 per non resident adult, per night, from 1st January 2024 and increase to US$200 per non resident adult, per night, from 1st July 2024.

We are seeking further clarification and an official communication about these increases; we shall share those with you as soon as we receive them. In the meantime, we apologise for the uncertainty and request that you ensure all clients are informed as that they may be asked to pay an extra park fee on the day of departure, at short notice.
