Dramatically improving access to quality healthcare for the Maasai community in the Mara Rianda area.
Kenya
A decade ago, together with our partners, we opened a new Health Centre just outside the Masai Mara National Reserve. The clinic is operated by Community Health Partners Kenya (CHP) and sees around 100 patients each week. CHP offers accessible, affordable and quality healthcare for all people. They provide general outpatient care, antenatal & postnatal care, a well child clinic, family planning, HIV testing and counselling, HIV/AIDS care and treatment, laboratory services, integrated community outreach services, prevention of mother to child transmission, OVC care, Tuberculosis care and management, nutrition and dietetics and water and sanitation advice.
The clinic includes an internal waiting area, three consulting rooms, a dispensary and three in-patient wards of five beds each catering for male, female and paediatric patients.
The most recent improvements have included a KES4.2M solar facility which provides a constant source of green power to the clinic and a KES1.3M electric fence. A newly opened KES8.4M volunteer staff accommodation block allows visiting health professionals to stay on site, offering their expertise and improving the skills of the local medical staff. A KES9.7M laboratory is under construction and will be opening very soon.
We are very proud to have been partners in this great venture since its inception in 2013 and wish to thank The PD Foundation, the MacTavish Family, The Mara Rianda Charitable Trust , CHP and everyone involved in the project.
