Packing for a difference

If you’re visiting us soon and would like to carry out some small items that could make a big difference to a local community, school or project, we would be delighted to help you get involved.

How it works

We support three schools in Kenya; The Mara Rianda Primary School in the Masai Mara, The Loldia Primary School in the Great Rift Valley and The Mugie School in Laikipia. In Rwanda we support The Nyange Primary School.

We can arrange the purchase and distribution of useful items on your behalf. By purchasing items domestically we increase the impact of your donation to include the support of local businesses. If you are interested in visiting a school, we would be glad to take you there during your stay.

The following items are the specific needs requested by the schools:

Basic stationery supplies: chalk (white and coloured), pencils, crayons, markers, erasers, glue sticks, pencil sharpeners, pens (blue and black ballpoint), exercise books (lined writing and squared math), coloured construction (sugar) paper, compasses, protractors, rulers and art supplies (paints and colors).

First aid/health kits:  sanitary items (towels and tampons), band aids, bandages and antibiotic ointment.

Learning materials: English dictionaries and encyclopaedias, wall charts (human body, math, language, science, world maps), flash cards in English (alphabet, math and word), reading books and educational games and toys (puzzles and soft toys).

Sports/outdoor activity equipment: are always a favourite (soccer balls, basket balls, volley balls, netballs, jumping/skipping ropes, team uniforms, medals and frisbees).

We urge you to choose what you like from the above list, rather than carry out other items that may be politely declined such as candy and balloons which are harmful for the children and the environment. Thank you so much for your support.
