June in the Masai Mara

With the grasses growing long on the plains of the Masai Mara, large herds of zebra, topi and eland have arrived on the plains around our camps from the surrounding areas. Big family groups of elephant cross the river, congregating in the Marsh to feed and the lions have had to work harder for their supper travelling bigger distances to find their prey. We had some great rhino sightings this month.

June at Loldia House

Loldia has had a wonderful month, we have begun to settle into our new look following our extensive refurbishment project last month and the house and cottages are looking lovely. Our guests have been enjoying wonderful days out to see the flamingoes and wildlife of Lake Elementaita and Lake Nakuru National Park and this month the electric fence around Eburu forest was commissioned, marking an important milestone in the protection and conservation of the forest

June at Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge

This month Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge celebrated 10 years of operations having opened our doors to our first guests on the 21st June 2008. We held an event at the lodge to celebrate 10 successful years of co-operation. Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge is Rwanda's first community owned lodge and in the 10 years we have been in operation the lodge has generated over US$3 million for the local community which has been spent on development projects which have made a great impact on thousands of people living in the surrounding community.

May at Loldia House

The big news at Loldia this month is that Loldia has a whole new look! Our team has worked hard with the team from White Elephant Kenya to install all new soft furnishings in phase 1 of the Loldia upgrade work. The House has a new elegant look with touches of the modern to bring the feeling of a lakeside retreat. There is still more to be done and phase two will include the new swimming pool, but we are delighted with the results so far.
