August at Mfangano Island Camp

Mfangano has had a busy August with guests arriving from all over the world. There have been day trips to Bird Island, Sacred Island, the rock art, mountain biking, fishing and of course plenty of relaxation. Back at the camp manager Miles and his team arranged a week long permaculture course for 5 students from the local primary school which was a huge success.

August at Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge

With the dry season upon us the gorillas have moved slightly higher up the volcanoes giving our guests amazing walks and equally amazing gorilla sightings. Plenty of gorilla babies are set to be named at this years Gorilla Naming Ceremony, a big Rwandese annual event which highlights the gorilla conservation work being carried out locally, and Sabyinyo and guests made a donation to the local healthcare facility.

August in the Masai Mara

This month has been all about the wildebeest migration, we have seen huge herds amass, cross the Mara River and fan out on the plains to graze close to our camps. We assisted in a successful elephant rescue and Lioness Siena's daughters are doing well, one had cubs in mid July which she hid behind tent 37 causing much excitement in camp!
