Great Rift Valley Activities

Loldia House is situated on a private farm of some 6,500 acres on the shores of Lake Naivasha. Here guests are free to explore the farm with one of our guides, to enjoy the interaction of farming activities and the wild animals which live alongside, and to explore the lakes and mountains of the Great Rift Valley. We have desinged a range of activities to help you make the most of your time at Loldia House.

Night Game Drives

We can arrange night game drives on Loldia Ranch. These normally depart at 7 pm (before dinner). The drive lasts for one hour and you explore the ranch at night. Animals normally seen on night game drives include bat eared foxes, aardvarks, leopard, long tailed mongooses, spring hares, nightjars and eagle owls as well as hippos leaving the lake to graze.

Guided Farm Walks

We can arrange a guided walk around Loldia Farm. Walks depart Loldia House at 4pm and take place in the cultivated agricultural areas of the farm. The walk lasts around an hour and a half and as well as seeing daily farm life there are many birds to discover as well. Please advise the manager if you would like to go on a guided farm walk.

Trips to Lake Bogoria

Lake Bogoria is a Rift Valley Soda Lake famed for its fabulous reflections of the Laikipia escarpment. Throughout most of the year there are a large number of greater and lesser Flamingos. There are also good chances of seeing a herd of the elusive but majestic kudu.

Community Tourism

We can organise a visit to the Loldia School. The manager of Loldia House and longstanding guests have together formed the Loldia School Fund, a UK registered charitable trust, which has worked hard to improve the school for the children of the area. To date the school has been completely rebuilt, making it one of the best schools in the region. Scholarships have been offered to primary school leavers to attend secondary school, and some of the brighter students have gone on to Universities in Kenya and South Africa.

Climb Mount Longonot

For those clients wishing to climb Mt. Longonot we can arrange a picnic lunch, notice of this needs to be given to us the evening before. The park entrance fee is payable direct and our manager will be happy to advise you of the current rates. Please note Mt Longonot is a strenuous climb and clients must be in good health and fit to take on the climb.
